Introduction
The China National Ministry of Education( CNMOE) initiated " New Century Network Course Construction Project" in
2000 so as to develop digitalized education resource of high education in China. We were charged with a branch
project, " Health Education Network Course". This paper tries to discuss our main methods and considerations in
designing and constructing this network course as reference for constructing other related network courses.

Methods
Network course should reflect the network advantage compared with traditional classroom teaching, so designed
network course should provide students with self-learning, that is, students themselves can choose what, how, when and
where to learn. This can contribute to whether students’ knowledge extension or their development of personality and
creative ability. Based on above considerations, our network course involved following topics: concept and
development of health, psychological and physiological and social fitness, measurement and evaluation of health, subhealth
status, health promotion through physical activity. We, in course’ s system, try to reflect following
characteristics: combination of theory with application, of tradition with creation, and of systematization with
personalization. The integrated considerations is the most important link in designing network course, and should
follow all principles of software designing so as to realize best interaction of person-computer and person-person.

Results
This network course has been finished and passed the
appraisal from CNMOE this year. And it has been
uploaded into the related website of CNMOE

(see figure). we established 6 modules: contents,
teaching resource, interaction between teachers and
students, comprehensive testing, index and help.
We also try to facilitate students’ learning effect by
comprehensive contents, active cartoon, online
discussion, question and answer, testing etc.

Discussion/conclusions
To bring students’ initiative of self-leaning should be the most important consideration in designing network course. To
do so, the stress should be placed on varied forms and patterns to teach and learn, contents’ diversification, and
convenient options for students. And contents should be spread to meet students’ requirements with varied leaning
purpose. In teaching process, open and exploring teaching methods should be encouraged to fully exert students’
creative ability with the guidance from teachers. And students can be divided into several leaning groups according
their interest, hobby, occupation etc. so that every group can choose their own learning sequence, time and place, and
organize their own discussion with the guidance of their chosen teacher.
