Resumo

This three hour workshop will look at ways to adapt gymnastics for disabled people of all impairment types. The session will explore different types of Gymnastics for All activity and focus on key principles for the effective adaptation of gymnastics to meet the needs of disabled people. The workshop will be mainly practical based incorporating partner acrobatic work, hand apparatus, floor work and individual and group gymnastics scenarios. Each practical scenario will uncover different ways that the coach can adapt the gymnastics environment, activity or skill to effectively meet the needs of disabled people. British Gymnastics has had a disability gymnastics programme in place since 1984. The current practice which is used to involve disabled people in gymnastics has therefore evolved over more than three decades.
