Introduction

Recent progress in information technology, as well as the spread of the Internet opened a variety of new ways for many fields. Schneider and Block (1995)2 identified three levels of the Web use (as an "information tool", as a "collaboration tool", and as a means for "interactive educational application"). Shneiderman (1999)3 referred to students’ high motivation and pride levels, while participating in distance learning environments. The main advantages of distance learning are the from and to any place, at any time, attributes. Photographs, images as well as Shockwave and Flash technology are being used nowadays for various effects, while audio and video forms of technology have gained a growing role in the creation of the educational Internet (Raymond III, 2000)4.
Methods
This paper discusses three latest trends in education materials in the field of physical education: distance learning environments, media oriented learning and interactive teaching-learning environments. It is also based on various recent
studies and researches conducted in the field of physical education, concerning the form and success of educational materials.

Results

This paper predicts that physical education in the future years will be marked by the distance-learning phenomenon. The age of encyclopaedic brains, and one-time learnt education lies already in the past. Education must provided to all people regardless their various and different knowledge backgrounds, or cognitive styles.
Discussion / Conclusions
All novice teachers are aware of the greatest enemies of the educational procedure and knowledge transfer, which are boredom, and lack of communicability. As Fisher (1999)1 stated "the following years will be marked by the alteration of mindsets". Students will switch from a passive to an active-discovery role, while at the same time teachers will be put "aside". Whatsoever, a large number of questions arise concerning the use of new technologies as learning materials. Is the human interaction completely unnecessary? Can these new tech-environments replace completely human interactivity and most important the transfer of sentiments and the real meaning of communication?
