Call for Papers – 2nd Announcement

Please be invited to submit a paper to the 2nd European Conference in Sport Economics in Cologne, Germany. The conference will be held on October 5th - 6th at the German Sport University Cologne. The deadline for submissions is May 1st, 2010.

The conference is open to all areas of sports economics. The scientific committee invites individuals to submit a variety of abstract types. Submissions will begin to be accepted on April 2nd, 2010. Completed research or research in progress is acceptable.

Topics may include (but are not restricted to):

·      Sport in the economy
·      Supply and demand for sport
·      Cost-benefit analysis of sport
·      Sporting governance and the state
·      Market, state and nonprofit failure in sport
·      Economics of voluntary work
·      Economics of sports leagues/tournaments
·      Law and economics in sports
·      Economics of elite sports and talent identification
·      Labor economics in sport
·      Taxation in sports
·      Economics of dysfunctions in sport (doping, corruption, discrimination)
·      Emotions and economics in sport
·      Cognition and economics in sport

Empirical as well as conceptual manuscripts are welcome. Manuscripts for the conference must not be published elsewhere at the time of the conference. The conference language will be English.

Bernd Weber (University Bonn, Germany): NeuroPsychoEconomics – a new approach to sport economics?

Submission process

·      Manuscripts (two pages maximum, 12-point font) must be submitted by May 1st, 2010 to ecse@dshs-koeln.de
·      Manuscripts passing the double-blind review process will be accepted for presentation at the conference.
·      A selection of best papers will be published in special issues of International Journal of Sport Finance (IJSF) and International Journal of Sport Management and Marketing (IJSMM).
