“A Bola ao Ritmo de Fado e Samba” is the 6th book from the Portuguese Collection of History and Sport, coordinated by Francisco Pinheiro (historian) and João Nuno Coelho (sociologist).

2013 celebrates the Centenary of the Luso-Brazilian Relations in Football. In 1913, exactly 100 years ago, a Portuguese team visited Brazil for first time, for a football tour in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. The two nations were united forever by Football, one of the most important contemporary phenomenons in the Portuguese and Brazilian history.
This book has 22 chapters, involving a total of 25 authors (12 Portuguese and 13 Brazilians), all they recognized experts in football in their respective countries.
In this book we can found the Football in different dimensions, including history, women, fascism, hero’s (figures like Eusébio, Pelé, Otto Gloria, Scolari, for example), clubs (like Benfica, Santos, Vasco da Gama, Académica de Coimbra), cinema, violence, immigration or the football language. It’s a document with 22 chapters about the 100 years of history of the Luso-Brazilian football.
