William Rhoden’s (2006) book "$40 Million Dollar Slaves--The Rise, Fall and Redemption of the Black Athlete" is an amazingly insightful book pertaining to sports and race, and the much greater effect that the Black Athlete can have on shifting the balance of social/political power.

Really, one of the best books I have ever read.
