Due Date: 10 July, 2016

Publication date (approximate): Volume 59, Issue 1, 2017

Organized by the Leisure Management Commission of the World Leisure Organization, this special issue of the World Leisure Journal seeks to explore, encourage discussion, and contribute to the study and practice of leisure management. Leisure managers are constantly being challenged to deliver better services, programs and facilities with steadily shrinking budgets. Papers are invited to address innovation and insights about the latest trends in the management of leisure services, programs and facilities. Ideally, papers would be submitted which were attempting to bridge the gap between empirical research and application as we hope to raise awareness among the broader leisure community who might not normally seek out articles on leisure management topics.

Papers may cover a broad range of topics and perspectives and include scholarly and empirical contributions from an international range of authors and contexts. Empirical research (both qualitative and quantitative), systematic reviews, scholarly descriptions, brief reports, and book reviews are invited.

Appropriate topics for this issue include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Conceptual and theoretical issues relating to the roles and aims of leisure management

· Practical issues relating to leisure management and its implementation in different populations, contexts, and settings

· Local, regional, and global trends and developments, and their impact on leisure management

· Perceptions of and attitudes towards leisure management Leisure management in relation to different patterns of leisure behavior and consumption

· Models, programs, curricula, and operational frameworks of leisure management education and their implications for individuals, communities, and societies

· Approaches and strategies for leisure management

· Training and preparation of leisure management professionals

· Policy and advocacy issues pertaining to leisure management

Manuscript Submission Procedure

The World Leisure Journal is published on the behalf of the World Leisure Organization by Taylor & Francis. Information for authors, including details of the manuscript submission process, may be found on Taylor & Francis’ Informaworld website.

All submissions should be made online at the World Leisure Journal ScholarOne Manuscripts site. New users should first create an account. Once a user is logged onto the site, submissions should be made via the Author Centre. Online user guides and access to a helpdesk are available on this website.

Authors should prepare and upload two versions of their manuscript. One should be a complete text, while in the second, all document information identifying the author should be removed from files to allow them to be sent anonymously to referees. When uploading files, authors will then be able to define the non-anonymous version as “File not for review.”

Manuscripts should be single spaced and conform to American Psychological Association (APA) style as described in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th Ed.). Papers should not normally exceed 6,000 words.

Links to the APA style guide and to information about such things as length of abstract and number of keywords required for submission are available on the Journal’s Instructions for Authors page on the Informaworld website (see above).

Criteria for Acceptance

The primary criteria for publication are methodological soundness and contribution to our understanding of leisure, recreation and related issues. While no contribution will be rejected solely on the basis of being excessively technical or overly applied, authors should endeavour to write in a clear, precise and succinct manner. Manuscripts are invited and encouraged from authors from throughout the world but must be written in English. All individuals who are listed as authors must have approved the manuscript as submitted. Citations must be provided for all information either referred to or quoted in the text. Authors should receive written permission from the original author and/or publisher for the reproduction of any copyrighted material. Manuscripts must not be under review or have already been published elsewhere. The presentation of a paper at a conference or the publication of a preliminary report in conference proceedings does not constitute prior publication so long as the manuscript submitted to the World Leisure Journal differs significantly from the presentation or proceedings paper.
