Resumo

This project took place in Sao Francisco, a neighborhood in Piracicaba, SF, and it was organized in a way that 50 children, from 5 to 15 years old, could be attended. The children met once week, on Fridays, in the morning. A group of children from 5 to 9 years old met the Naif artist Carmela Pereira, and another group of children from 10 to 15 years old met the Naif artist Paulo Bhay. The Naif picture works with popular traditions, circus, parties, holidays, street plays and the artist’s experiences. Carmelina de Toledo Piza, story teller, and Cleusa G. Delgado, animator, started the work, encouraging the children to listen to the stories, learn, draw and paint the life like they see it, awakening the five senses. According to LOWENFELD (1977:42) "Life and art are inseparable... Encouraged early in life to use the eyes, the fingers, the senses of touch and hearing, as well as the feelings, the child will react with sensibility". White papers of different sizes were used during the work: 15,5xlO, 5cm, 40x30cm, and 1,20x90cm. Black pencil, chalk-crayon, "xadrez" color powder, water and glue. The technique used was to bring sensibility for those children who used to copy and draw 6 4 repeatedly the same thing. This work made it possible for children to feel the freedom of expressing themselves free and boundless, even with their foot. According to DERDICK (1989: Ill) "Drawing puts in motion not only the technical and operational acquisition (how to manage tools and materials), but the intelectual acquisition (the product of imagination)". The result was satisfying. Each child discovered it’s own stile.
