For the purpose of the present study 125 senior players were analyzed, all competitors in the 1st League of the National Championship of Portugal. A second group consisted of 88 junior players from both subdivisions (17 and 18 years old). The data was collected through the application of the Bredemeier Athletic Aggression Inventory (BAAGI) and an inform questionnaire involving personal and career data of the athletes. The results showed that there were statistically signifi cant differences between senior and junior players at the level of the reactive or hostile aspect of the aggressiveness. The assessment of the descriptive values showed that the larger the number of years in competition, the higher the aggressiveness levels presented by athletes. Key-Words: Aggressiveness, fi eld position, years of competition. miolo12.indd 19 26-02-2006 22:19:58
