Resumo

A demência é uma das principais causas de redução da independência e da qualidade de vida em idosos. Com o aumento da prevalência global, intervenções não farmacológicas, como a dança, são cruciais para o envelhecimento saudável. Tem-se como objetivo realizar uma revisão integrativa da literatura para analisar as evidências sobre os efeitos da prática da dança nos aspectos cognitivos de pessoas idosas. Foi conduzida uma revisão integrativa nas bases de dados PubMed e LILACS. Foram incluídos ensaios clínicos e estudos observacionais publicados nos últimos cinco anos, em inglês, português ou espanhol, que envolvessem a dança como intervenção e a cognição como desfecho. Quatorze estudos atenderam aos critérios de inclusão, totalizando 887 participantes. As amostras incluíram idosos saudáveis e com comprometimento cognitivo leve (CCL), predominantemente do sexo feminino. A maioria dos estudos (12) relatou melhoras significativas na cognição global, memória e funções executivas, além de benefícios na estrutura cerebral e biomarcadores como o BDNF. A dança também impactou positivamente o humor e o equilíbrio. A dança apresenta-se como uma intervenção eficaz para a melhora cognitiva, neuroplasticidade e bem-estar de idosos. Contudo, a heterogeneidade das intervenções sugere a necessidade de padronização em pesquisas futuras.
