CONTEXTO: O uso do computador, movimentos repetitivos e posturas estáticas do trabalho de escritório são frequentemente associados a dores musculoesqueléticas.
OBJETIVOS: Avaliar se sessões de exercícios físicos no ambiente de trabalho influenciam a percepção de dor musculoesquelética em trabalhadores administrativos de uma empresa farmacêutica.
MÉTODOS: Quarenta e nove sujeitos (21,5% dos 228 convidados), randomizados em três grupos de intervenção (GR2, n = 18; GR3, n = 15; GR5, n = 16), foram incentivados a participar 2, 3 e 5 vezes por semana, respectivamente, em sessões de 10 minutos de exercícios para alongamento e fortalecimento dos músculos da coluna e membros superiores. A participação era livre, mas o comparecimento registrado. Para avaliar a percepção de dor musculoesquelética utilizou-se um questionário com base no Inventário para Dor de Wisconsin. As avaliações foram feitas no início do programa e após 3 e 6 meses.
RESULTADOS: A média (± DP) de participação semanal efetiva dos trabalhadores nas sessões de exercícios foi: 1,39 (± 0,50), no GR2; 2,2 (± 0,86), no GR3 e 3,13 (± 1,10), no GR5. Houve redução do número absoluto de relatos de dor entre o início e o final do estudo (cerca de 44,5%), diminuição da intensidade relatada da dor mais forte sentida nas últimas 24 horas nos três grupos, e da dor mais fraca das últimas 24 horas, apenas no GR5.
CONCLUSÃO: A adesão e a participação semanal dos trabalhadores no estudo ficaram abaixo do esperado, entretanto, o programa de exercícios físicos no local de trabalho contribuiu para a diminuição do número de relatos e da intensidade de dor musculoesquelética percebida pelos participantes.
