Effect of tianyun capsule on prevention and treatment of osteoporosis

Introduction

The osteoporosis invalids are increasing in China. To find a good way of calcium supplement is very important for osteoporosis prevention and treatment. Tian Yuan Capsule is designed specially for middle-aged and old people to increase the calcium absorbing and balance the bone calcium adjust hormone so that can prevent the bone loss effectively. This study is to find out the effect of Tian Yuan Capsule on osteoporosis.
Method
Fifty subjects (male:8, female:42, average 45.2±11.3yrs) whose Bone Quality Index (BQI) was lower than 85 were divided into the medication group (MG) and control group. Every subject had one or more symptoms of lumbago, limb ache, leg clonus, bad sleeping, hill ache, tidal heat and sweat. MG took Tian Yuan Capsule twice per day, one capsule per time for one month. CG was given the same exterior capsule of complex vitamin as the balm, dosing by the same way as MG. The subjective feeling and bone density were tested before and after experiment in addition to the indexes as Ca, AKP, HOP, BGP, PTH and T. During the experiment, the subjects were not allowed to take any other relative medicines.

Result

The interrelated symptoms were improved in MG from the first week after the medication intake and variously mended in the late 3 to 4 weeks. However, there was no improvement shown up in CG. Ca also augmented in MG as well as AKP and BGP, representing the promoted bone forming. On the other hand, HOP decreased significantly, showing the prohibited bone absorbing and advanced bone transform. Moreover, PTH decreased while T increased which reduced the bone calcium losing. But the BQI did not show noticeable difference in both MG and CG.

Conclusion

Tian Yuan Capsule significantly eased pain symptoms caused by osteoporosis. In addition, Tian Yuan Capsule shows benefit on preventing and curing osteoporosis by increasing the absorbing of serum calcium, promoting the bone forming, restraining the bone absorbing and reducing the bone calcium losing. The futility of Tian Yuan Capsule on bone density may be because of the short term dosing.
