Introduction
The purpose of the proposed research paper/oral presentation is to examine the status as well as suggest change for the betterment in the future of sport organizational leadership from a philosophical/historical and sport psychology perspective. The Olympic ideals, fairplay, sportspersonship, and professionalism will be considered the foundation for ethical behavior in this paper/presentation. Emphasis will be placed on sport and organizational ethics, and suggestions for the initiation and implementation of ethical leadership in sport organizations.
Method
A thorough review of the historical/philosophic literature regarding Olympism and the Olympic ideals will be conducted. In addition, the philosophic branch of axiology and specifically ethics will be utilized as the foundation to examine leadership practices in sport organizations. Leadership will also be examined from the perspective of the current results of the research from the discipline of sport psychology.
Result
A summary from the extensive review of the literature and research from this interdisciplinary approach of sport history, philosophy and psychology will be presented regarding ethics, Olympism, and leadership theory.
Discussion/Conclusion
The discussion of the results will include suggestions for the future for ethical and professional leadership in sport organizations with conclusions based upon the Olympic ideals.
