Resumo
Parks and recreation are making measurable difference in the lives of millions of people through conservation, health and wellness and social equity. And new economic impact research shows our national economic value: 1. Local and regional public park agencies’ operational and capital spending generated nearly $140 billion in economic activity and supported almost 1 million jobs in 2013. 2. This is a conservative estimate of the economic significance of local and regional park and recreation agency spending 3. When combined with the economic impact of national and state systems, park and recreation are responsible for more than $200 billion in annual economic activity (State parks = $43 billion and National Parks = $27).
