Introduction
With computer technology developing, new net models are rapidly applied in the large sport games administration systems. Among these, the WLAN technology, based on the IEEE802.11, has been making progress, providing more flexible and economical computer net solutions for large sports games. This essay, after investigations, based on running WLAN cases, points out the advantages of WLAN application in large sports games.
Methods
Data Checking, Investigation, Real Samples, Interviews.
Results
54, about 30%, among 178 gymnasiums investigated in China, have cabling systems. These 30% gymnasiums are mainly those newly built or rebuilt these years. Among the 70% without cabling systems, 73% are old gymnasiums built long ago and 27% are newly built. These gymnasiums are not capable of undertaking large sports games. WLAN is one of the best solutions. WLAN can suit better sports grounds for special games, such like skiing, located in mountains, with low temperature, hard environment, and long distances, not suitable for cabling. After investigation, we estimate that sports games takes about one thirds of the utilization of the large domestic gymnasiums. With fixed cabling, there is a big part of idle time, difficult maintenance and low efficiency. What is more, with increasing of the notebook computers with wireless network cards, which more and more reporters for large sports games are using, needing convenient wireless access. The sports grounds for the 9th National Sports Games, field competitions (in Guangzhou), the National In-house Field Games in Tianjin, and the Yabuli Skiing Field for 10th National Winter Games, all utilized WLAN technology based on IEEE801.11b standard, 11M bandwidth 2.4G working frequency, DSSS frequency extension, and 128 digit WEP coding technology. And the administration work was successful.
Conclusions
WLAN can offer convenient internet access for moving users and sports grounds with cabling difficulties, and it is very suitable for large sports grounds or gymnasiums. WLAN technology, advanced, fast and efficient, saving manpower and material investments, is more suitable for most gymnasiums without computer net works in China.
