Introduction

Since Ader and Cohen have inaugurated Psychoneuroimmunology in 1975, studies in this field have expanded, now it has been the hot spot in the field of nerve-psychology and medicine immunology. 29 teenager shoot athletes were the subjects of the study. The investigators measured their personality characteristics according to the Eysenck personality questionnaire and observed the change of immune reaction between pretest and posttest on psychological stress. The purpose of this study was to discover the influence of psychological stress on immune function of different personality characteristic of teenager shooters.

Methods

29 teenager shoot athletes were the subjects of the study. The investigators measured their personality characteristics according to the Eysenck personality questionnaire and observed the change of immune reaction between pretest and posttest on psychological stress. Using turbidimetric immunoassay method and biotin-stretavidin-peroxidase (S.P) method respectively, the investigator measured the immunogloblin consisting of G, A, M and T-lymphocyte subsets.

Results

(1) Psychological stress aroused the variety of immunoglobulin concentration, and also brought on percentage varieties of TCD4+,TCD8+,TCD4+/TCD8+. (2) In the calmness state, personality characteristic had no certain relation to immune function. Being on Psychological stress, the IgG concentration in the posttest changed because of the influence of EPQL ,EPQE and the cells of TCD4+ related with EPQN, but nothing happened in the pretest.

Discussion/ Conclusions

The acute short-time psychological stress restrained the function both in the humoral immunity and cellular immunity in teenager shoot athletes. This research suggests that the nervous system possibly adjusts immunoreactions. It enriches theories of Psychoneuroimmunology. As this study is originated in Physical Education field, the result will boost the application of Psychoneuroimmunology on Physical Education.
