The general goal of the study was to investigate de influence of violence in the teaching learning process at the school physical education classes having as locus one of the schools that takes part of the Municipal System of Education in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The research has a qualitative nature, with the contribution of garfinkelian ethnomethodology. The data emphasize that the pacification influence – under the violence and education prism – is more symbolic than concrete. Keywords: Physical education, school, drugs.
