Purpose
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relation among anxiety, reaction time and scoring points in archery.
Methods
The national olympic team consisting of 5 men whose ages are approximately 20± 3.2 and women whose ages are approximately 27±8.2 are the subject of this study. Datas were gathered in three different conditions like training, artificial anxiety condition and competition condition. To measure anxiety, Competitive State Anxiety Inventory-2(CSAI-2), Speilberger Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) were used and to measure reaction time, Newtest 1000 and reaction stick were used. In order to find the normality between the anxiety points, the reaction time and the scoring points, the kolmogrov- smirnov test was used, in order to find relation pearson correlation technique was used.
Findings
In three different conditions, anxiety points and reaction time points were related and only there were sıgnıficant relation between state anxiety in training condition and simple visual reaction time in training condition (r=.840), between state anxiety artificial condition and simple auditory reaction time in training condition (r= -.659), between state anxiety in competition condition and simple auditory reaction time in training condition (r= -.715), between state anxiety in training condition and selective auditory reaction time in artificial condition (r= -.755), between trait anxiety in training condition and selective auditory reaction time in training condition (r= -. 641), between trait anxiety in competition condition and selective auditory reaction time in training condition (r= -.660), between self confidence in training condition and simple visual reaction time in artificial condition (r= -.695) (p<0.05). In three different conditions, anxity points and scorin points were related only there were significant relation between state anxiety in training condition and 1. series in training condition (r= .739), between sate anxiety in artificial condition and 1. series in training condition (r= -.671), between state anxiety in artificial condition and 2. series in artificial condition (r= .658), between state anxiety in competition condition and 3. series in competition condition (r= .771), between self condition in competition condition and 3. series in competition condition (r=. 803) (p< 0.05)
Conclusion
In Archery, while it could be found significant relation between state anxiety and reaction time, but ıt couldn’t be found relation between self comfidence and reaction time.
