Introduction

Enormous economic values tend to be hidden behind any Olympic Games, which are obviously seen from those sponsor by the governments, either urban or national. Nowadays, the Olympic Games cannot only be defined as behaviors of physical competition, but also be those in commerce and economy. It is an important topic which needs further discussion that China, as one of the developing countries with the greatest economic growth, should know how to make full use of such an opportunity in accelerating the economic growth. This paper just touches upon the general issues on the economy of Olympic Games, so as to present some references for the economic growth during the period of the Olympic Games of Beijing in 2008.

Methods

In this paper, the author attempts to fulfil such a task through documents collecting, interviewing, experts consulting and mathematical statistics.
Result
1.The component parts of the Olympic Games economy, one is the direct economy which includes selling the relaying right of TV, the exclusive right of symbolizing products of Olympic Games, the support provided by the opponent agents, and the income of souvenir and tickets selling. The other one is the indirect economy, which refers to the phenomenon that economy grows accompanying the adjustment in the structures of investment and industry in those sponsoring cities or countries.
2.The comparisons in the current industrial structures of China and the developed countries in the world. The sustainable growth of national economy largely depends on the continuous adjustment of economic structures. Up to the 1980’s, the major developed countries in the world had fulfilled the transition of the national economy led by the third industry, while in China now, the third industry is just developing not with a great growth rate. The future 5 years, which is from now to 2008 when the Olympic Games will be held, should be the critical period for the third industry to develop greatly.
3.The economic influence from the Olympic Games in 2008.The title of Green Olympics would greatly accelerate the adjustment of the second industry and development of environmental industry in Beijing. ‘Scientific Olympics’ would strengthen the development of the third and new third industries in Beijing. ’Humanist Olympics’ would give an impetus to the formation and development of the according cultural industry characterized by humanism.

Discussion and Conclusion

1.The economy of Olympic Games mainly consists of the direct economy and the indirect one which is produced by the radiating effect of Olympics. The direct economy serves as the foundamental guarantee for the opening of the Olympics, while the indirect one is just the vital element for improving the economy of the Olympics.
2.The major industry of the economic value of the Olympics is the third industry among all the three industries. There exist essential differences between the three industrial structures in both China and developed countries in the world. However, the Olympics to be held in Beijing would serve as a great chance for adjusting the structures of economic industry in Beijing or even China.
3.The titles of ‘Green, Scientific and Humanist Olympics’ are fully embodied in the economic values from the Beijing Olympics in 2008,which would greatly promote the economic development and industrial adjustment in Beijing city.
