Introduction
Following vigorous exercise, the sportsman’s ability would be lower as fatigue and immunity function would be
changed. The aim of the study is to explore whether the body’s immunity function following vigorous exercise would
be affected by the Chinese medicine. We tried to alleviate fatigue of sportsmen through the regulation of immunity
function

Methods
The study compared 30 athletes (track and field and shooting sportsmen) with a control group using questionnaires. The
athletes were divided into 4 treatment groups and a control group. Next the athletes continuously took special Chinese
herbal medication for one month.
Blood samples, 5 ml from the medial cubital vein, were drawn twice from the participants before and after medication
(once for the control group). Then the blood samples were tested with the MTT method: [Interleukin 1(IL-1),
Interleukin 2(IL-2), Natural Killer (NK), Lymphocyte transformation test (LT) were tested in the central laboratory of
Sichuan university. The data were analyzed using T test.

Results
The means and probability (P) of each group (before treatment / after treatment) are presented in
Table 1

Discussion / Conclusions
The Chinese traditional medicine would affect and regulate the immunity function of sportsmen after high intensity
exercise in special characteristics. Following treatment by traditional Chinese medicine, the content of IL1, IL2, NK, LT
can be increased, therefore, the body immunity after high intensity exercise would be enhanced and lower the infection
rate from virus. It is also able to provide a new way to monitor sporting fatigue.
