Introduction

Lifelong sport means that all people continue to engage in some kind of sports or physical exercises through their lives. In this paper, lifelong sport system is discussed by applying system theory that is now widely used in various fields. Firstly, the factors constructing lifelong sport system are considered. Secondly, using these factors, the explanatory model of this system is constructed. Thirdly, the issues on the optimum conditions to manage this system are examined.

Methods

Some literatures and materials related to system theory and lifelong sport were collected for this study.

Results

Some factors were selected to construct lifelong sport system. These are (1)a steering committee of lifelong sport system, (2)sport organization, (3)sport leader, (4)human being, (5)material resources of sport and (6)sport program. These factors are connected mutually and each of them has an own function.
A steering committee of lifelong sport system plays an important role to control this system. Sport organization means the public administrative organ and other private sporting body. Sport leader is also needed to promote sport activities of the people. Then, human being from the childhood to the period of old age has subjectivity to involve in lifelong sport. They would engage in sport or exercise at four fields or spaces, namely, family, school, workplace and community. Material resources of sport mean facilities, open spaces, equipment and goods for people’s sport activities. Sport program is an information to show the contents of sport and how to play it.
It can be pointed out that lifelong sport system is an union constructed these six factors to promote the reasonable phenomena of lifelong sport of the people. As for the optimum condition to control this system, the most important thing is to set up the concrete object that can be attained. For example, the rate of sport club members or sporting population in the community and so on should be examined.

Discussion/ Conclusions

In this study, firstly, six factors were selected to construct lifelong sport system and the relations among these factors were cleared. Secondly, the explanatory model of lifelong sport system was constructed. Thirdly, as for managing this system, the concrete objects that can be attained were examined.
