Sport for women was never a concession. It was achieved with a lot of struggle. And the women’s struggle for equality and equity of conditions in sport persists. Sometimes veiled, silenced, made invisible, she follows, because Being a woman implies in existing and not just surviving. You can never remember too much that women were deprived of the right to engage in sport because they were deemed fragile. If today they go into and dominate tracks, fields, courts, mats and swimming pools, it is because some of them have fought for the right to many other demonstrate their skills in public. After more than 100 years, prejudice persists, however, disguised with new arguments. This is a work that talks about many women that faced the challenge of being athletes or working in the sport environment as a manager or a coach, and who at different historical moments sought to fulfill a desire that implied in contesting a model of women and sport that are often incompatible with the need to develop skills socially constructed as non-feminine.
