European Academy of Management Annual Conference 2016
 
Workshop: The Business and Management of Football
 
As part of EURAM’s 2016 annual conference in Paris, the above workshop is being run to coincide with France's hosting of the 2016 UEFA European Championship. This will provide a timely focus for researchers to consider a range of business and management issues pertaining both to the competition itself and to football in general.
 
It is anticipated that papers delivered as part of the session will generally fall into one of the following areas:
 
• Event bidding, staging and legacy;
• Competition format and design;
• Ownership, finance and return on investment;
• Globalisation, internationalisation and geopolitical context;
• Media, social media and property rights;
• Governance and industry orientation;
• Talent management and team management.
 
Submissions or proposals to present from the full range of business and management disciplines will also be considered.
 
It is not in any way intended that papers and presentations delivered as part of the session will exclusively focus on either France or the UEFA European Championship - rather, they will serve as a backdrop to it. Hence, submissions for the special session are encouraged from researchers examining:
 
• The business and management of football in established markets e.g. Germany, Italy, Spain;
• The business and management of football in emerging markets e.g. USA, Australia, Russia;
• The business and management of football in underdeveloped markets e.g. China, United Arab Emirates, India.
 
Please note that the workshop leaders are in negotiations to publish the workshop’s contents as a book.
