PLENARY SESSION – ADVOCATE
Inactivity Time Bomb: Using data as an advocacy tool.
Studies around the world are showing similar trends of rising inactivity levels and crippling costs associated with them. The numbers are growing, the inactivity time bomb is ticking and we need to defuse it. Data like this can be a powerful tool for organisations like ours. It reinforces WHY we are creating initiatives that help people MOVE more. But how can we convince others to support our cause? The Advocate plenary session and workshop will introduce ways you can use evidence from your countries to move your work and the physical activity agenda forward.

CLOSING SESSION: WE KNOW ACTION CREATES CHANGE, SO LET’S GET MOVING – TOGETHER!
Moderator: Sean Blair, ProMeet, UK
Speakers:

Various sectors individually seek to encourage people to take up a physically active lifestyle. The grassroots sport sector has this as its core objective, the public health sector knows the prevention potential of a physically active lifestyle, the sport industry seeks to expand its market, and private companies and foundations use sport and physical activity in their corporate social responsibility actions.
Different sectors with different starting points, but all with the same aim.
To unlock the full potential of this mutual aim to increase participation in recreational sport and physical activity, there must at the same time be a growing understanding of the need for a much stronger cross-sector collaboration. Stronger cross-sector involvement and ownership of the common objective is the only way we can be more efficient and achieve better results – giving more people the chance to enjoy the benefits of a physically active lifestyle.
In this session we will bring together stakeholders from the most relevant sectors to discuss how to break down the “silo-thinking” and give their opinions on how sport for all organisations should become key players in advocacy initiatives whist developing and delivering effective activities for their citizens.
STREET SPORT FESTIVAL AND CLOSING EVENT

TRACK 4 – INNOVATE. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING
Visit the street! GAME Denmark takes you behind-the-scenes of Copenhagen’s street sport hub
On an average weekday, this year’s MOVE Congress venue, GAME, is pulsing with freestyle moves, eye-popping tricks and background beats that are the essence of street sport. When GAME opens its doors to the MOVE Congress 2015, it will welcome you to a behind-the-scenes training session, where you will learn how street sport is attracting teens and young adults back to grassroots sport and creating social change in challenging environments.
The half-day training session led by GAME will explore the following topics:
- How we can use street sports as a vehicle for social change and development
- How your organisation can develop innovative methods of implementing street activities in your city/country
- Different kinds of physical activity initiatives that can be organised in the street setting
- How to bring value to your local community with organised street sport
Be prepared to be active during the session and bring indoor sportswear with you.
Speaker: Simon Prahm, co-founder and Managing Director of GAME and GAME Playmaker, Copenhagen, Denmark
GAME’s Playmakers:
GAME’s mission is to create lasting social change through youth-led street sports and culture. The program is a fusion of different urban sports, dance, urban culture and an effort to bridge between differences. The activities are executed by a numerous group of young leaders trained by GAME as street basket and street soccer coaches as well as dance and parkour instructors and event managers. The youth leaders in GAME are called Playmakers. An important part of GAME’s activities is to offer an education to young people in order to empower them to take a role as peer educators.
NETWORKING LUNCH
On the last day of the Congress there will be a 1.5h lunch break designed especially for networking. Tables will be reserved and given names corresponding with different topics from the Congress. The extended timeframe for the lunch will allow for plenty of discussion and an opportunity for participants to move freely from table to table.
