Introduction: Young people aged 15 years or over who don´t practice any kind of sport or physical activity sums more than 100 million people. The number is equivalent to 62% of the population of 161.8 million Brazilians in this age group. The data are part of the study about the Sports and Physical Activity practice, which the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) conducted in 2015. The figures also show that in Brazil, slightly more than 37% of the total population in this range age practice some kind of sport or physical activity, of which 53.9% were men and 46.1% were women. In order to encourage the practice of sports, as well as the development of physical skills through motor skills, the Social Service of Commerce (SESC), which is a private social institution, offers programs and projects that strive to meet the quality of life of individuals in more different age groups. That said, the objective of this study was to investigate how the young adults living in Brazil – currently seventy-third place in the Human Development Index (HDI) - and Denmark, fifth in the same index, are related to the levels of physical activity and comprise the predominant aspects to the practice of physical leisure activities for a better condition of health. DESCRIPTION: The sample was composed of Brazilians (75%), residents of the São Paulo City and Danish (25%), residents of Viborg, totaling 184 young adults between 15 and 30 years old. The online Monkey Survey platform, with closed questions, was composed of eight objective and quantitative questions on the subjects: 1. “Age”; 2. “Leisure concept”; 3. “how many facilities offer free physical activity?” 4. “and paid facilities? 5. “The current scenario of physical activity practice”; 6. “How physically healthy are you right now?”; 7. “How important is the practice of physical exercise”; and 8. “How healthy do you imagine you are at age 60, considering your current lifestyle?” Results: The main results were related to the interpretations about the concept of leisure and knowledge of paid or free equipment. Both groups considered “physical and sports activities” their first leisure option, Brazilians (21,21%) and Danish (36,61%), secondly another tie, “meetings with friends”, 18,23% and 24,11% respectively, however, in the third place the groups diverge, Brazilians list the “family events” as one of the main leisure activities (15.08%), while the Danish understand that “ idle time” (15.18%) deserves this highlight. About the Venues that provide the practice of leisure physical activities, the Brazilians reported knowing on average 4,86 free spaces and 8,22 paid, and the most of the paid places can also be observed in the answers of Danish, 3.04 free and 7.89 payments. Conclusion: It is possible to conclude that even though there is a discrepancy in the cultural and / or financial aspects of these two countries, the equivalence of the answers points to a uniform understanding of the concept of leisure physical activity, as well as its importance.
