With the development of social economy and the improvement of people’s living standards, more and more tourists have gradually attracted sports tourism programs, which focus on the participation and experience of sport. China governments have issued a series of supportive policies to encourage the development of sports tourism. There are a large number of natural and cultural landscape resources in Hangzhou. It is an ideal place to develop sport tourism. However, the existing sports tourism programs in Hangzhou lack of overall planning at present. Therefore, how to make use of all kinds of high quality resources in Hangzhou and set up a large number of distinctive sports tourism programs has become an important problem to solve. According to the RMP theory, the study collects information of the natural and built environment in Hangzhou by site observation, and gets data of 800 questionnaires from tourists in scenic sports and gymnasiums to know the information of present situation of sport tourists and their needs of sport tourism. The results show: (1) Sports tourism programs in Hangzhou can be divided into nine blocks, which are sports tourism core, sports events area, sports culture area, the three rivers area, mountain outdoor sports area, winter sports area, water sports area and sports leisure area. (2)The sports tourism core is located in the main city and focuses on the role of consultation and reception, functioning as a tourism distribution center. The sports events area is located in the Binjiang District and Xiaoshan District, focusing on the development of brand events. The sports culture area emphasizes the planning of sports and cultural programs, providing experience and sightseeing project. The three rivers area focuses on the development of water sports and fine line, including canoeing, drift, touring car etc. The mountain outdoor sports area develops programs suitable for different age groups such as bungee jumping, rock climbing, downhill, mountaineering, tracking and others. Winter sports area sets up ice and snow program experience, training, sightseeing and so on. Water sports area focuses on nonpolluting water sports such as diving, sailing and other new pollution-free water programs. Sports leisure area reduces the degree of specialization and difficulty of the projects, focusing on parent-child sports experience, team sports and entertainment. As a new field, the degree of public awareness and acceptance is limited in sports tourism; the research suggests expanding the survey population in different levels.
