Sport Historiography In Europe: Can It Be Ex (s)ported?

First of all it should be clarified that the term sport is used here generically and includes various aspects of human movement culture. In order to visualize the major components of this specific cultural domain; the diadic model of Homo movens (Renson 1991a), was slightly adjusted and expanded with the expressive culture component of the human movement heritage, as already proposed by Renson in an earlier unpublished contribution, (1991b). This triadic model (see figure 1) encompasses three major components: physical culture; play; and performance.
