Sport Psychology Colleagues,
We are seeking a Research Assistant (one year position) in our Sports Performance Division. The Job Description is below:
Summary
Provide biofeedback and neurofeedback services, education, and consultation to elite athletes and coaches as a member of the Sport Performance Division Team. Assess various technologies for efficacy. Help develop USOC Sport Psychology biofeedback laboratory. Receive supervision by licensed psychologists and AASP Certified Consultants in order to earn hours for licensure and certification.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop effective working relationships with athletes and coaches in Colorado Springs in the areas of biofeedback, neuro-feedback, and transfer of these techniques to the field of play.
- Travel to Chula Vista Training Center to develop USOC feedback resources and work with neuro-training equipment.
- Assess reliability, validity, and utility of various feedback equipment and modalities.
- Assist in selection of equipment for USOC Sport Psychology Biofeedback lab.
- Assist in the set-up of the USOC Sport Psychology Biofeedback lab.
- Provide sport psychology service or identify facilitators for such service (individual consultations, group seminars) in response to requests from resident and camp and National Team programs in relationship to overall Sport Performance Division priorities and specific projects identified in the NGBs High Performance Plans.
- Consult and/or collaborate on Sport Performance interdisciplinary projects to include (but are not limited to) USOC Coach Education Conferences, Psyched at One, Reach the Peak, Summits, Olympic preparation, Recovery services, etc.
- Actively participate in the Sport Psychology Professional Team: consult with peers as appropriate and necessary for professional development, collaborate and develop ideas for cutting edge programming, co-produce educational materials, engage in team problem solving, assist in prioritized and appropriate expansion of service, and generate ideas for enhanced service to all Sport Performance teams.
Minimum Qualifications Required
Education:
- Master degree in psychology or related area
Licensure & Certification:
- AASP certification highly desired
Experience:
- 2 or more years of experience working at the collegiate or elite sport level
- Significant experience working with biofeedback equipment in sport settings.
- Coursework and/or supervised experience with biofeedback equipment.
- Experience working at practices and competition with athletes and coaches.
- Expertise in mental training skills and life skills training for athletes, coaches
- Exposure to clinical treatment issues with athletes, especially anxiety disorders, mood disorders, eating disorders and substance abuse disorders
Skills:
- Broad understanding of the psychological, physiological, nutritional, and training principles of athletic performance
- Demonstrated ability to design and conduct a research project and present results in a peer review forum.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, writing, and public speaking skills.

- Office environment in a multi-building complex
- Occasional non-conventional or extended hours including nights and weekends
